In a shocking incident, a man ordered an iPhone worth Rs 1.5 lakh online and killed the delivery agent when he came to his home to deliver the smartphone.

30-year-old Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj was killed on September 23 by the accused, identified as Gajanan, and his accomplice, Akash. The duo then dumped his body in the Indira Canal, the police said.

Sahu's family registered a missing person complaint on September 25 at the Chinhat police station after he did not return home for two days.

Police launched an investigation and traced Gajanan's number through Sahu's call records and managed to reach his friend Akash. During interrogation, Akash confessed to the crime, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh said one of the accused, Gajanan, had ordered the iPhone worth about Rs 1.5 lakh from Flipkart and opted for Cash on Delivery payment.

"On September 23, delivery boy, Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj, went to deliver the phone at Gajanan’s place where he was killed by the accused and his accomplice Akash. After strangulating Sahu, they put his body in a sack and disposed it off in the Indira Canal," he said.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is currently searching for Sahu's body in the canal.
