Kolhapur: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, made a sensational allegation, claiming that a pro-RSS police officer gunned down former Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief and IPS officer Hemant Karkare and not Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the bullet that hit Hemant Karkare was not fired from Kasab's gun but from the gun of pro-RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), however, this evidence was hidden in court by then public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

The BJP gave a ticket to contest in this Lok Sabha election to such a lawyer, who is a 'traitor', he continued.

Wadettiwar said that retired police officer, M S Mushrif, has also mentioned about this in his book and if it was true, then this is a case of treason, he added.
