Chandigarh: A video of a religious function casting two dancers as Sikh characters has created a controversy and a Sikh organisation has complained to police as well as administration authorities demanding action.

"X" handle Tracking Hate Against Sikhs on Monday posted a message along with the video and the screenshot of profile of the person, who had allegedly live-broadcast the video.

The tweet stated "A very shocking incident has come to our attention from Garhshankar. Organizers of a religious function cast two dancers as Sikh characters in a very insulting fashion. Both characters were dressed like Sikh children with fake mustaches and beards. This is a mockery of Sikhs and is very insulting in nature."

The organisation has urged authorities to look into the matter as soon as possible so that the culprits who made a mockery of Sikh appearance can be apprehended.

It has requested to state authorities to pay close attention to the incident as it might be a sinister attempt by anti-social elements to stir communal tension between communities, especially when hate campaigns against Sikhs are on the rise.

Meanwhile, Hoshiarpur police responding to the tweet replied that the complaint has been referred to PS Garhshankar for immediate necessary action.
